I received some paperwork from Govplanet this afternoon showing: "It is critical that the engine and transmission be serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's Preventive Maintenance recommendations for returning an idle machine to service." Where might I locate this information?

Everything you ever wanted to know, and need to know about the HMMWV is available in the TMs. I strongly suggest that you do not drive or wrench on your new toy until you have the TMs.

Just Google "HMMWV TMs"

For all of you first time buyers of HMMWV vehicles go here before you do anything else. Download all of the TMs that start with TM 9 2320-280-xxx and then READ THEM! The -10 manual is basically an operators manual but it also contains basic PM information such as capacities. The -20 series manuals continue higher level maintenance information and then the -34 series TMs break everything down into their highest service levels. TM 9-2320 tells you they're motor vehicle manuals and the -280 after the 2320 means they're for the base M998 HMMWV truck and they're where you want to start. Any number after TM 9-2320 means they're for a motor vehicle but they might be for a transmission or an alternator or a winch or other subassembly that could be appropriate for multiple vehicles including the HMMWV. Knowing the basics for the TM system is important.

I read the operator's manual twice before I got my first Humvee.

Thanks gentlemen. I have ferreted out several TM's and have just recently acquired a hard copy of the -10 manual. I am happy to do the research, but I was thinking that there might be a one page consolidated 'list' of what they were referring to, so that my inexperience would not make me miss something important.
