Converting Humvee antenna for 2 meter HAM or CB use
I am electronically challenged, and am hoping for some advice in being able to rework? this antenna base for use with either a 2 meter Ham radio antenna or maybe used for a CB radio. Thanks!

That has a range of 30 to 88 mhz...so might work for CB which is 27 mhz.
Won't work for 2 meter, but will for 6 meter.

If you leave the top section off the mast it might resonate closer to the two meter band....you need a meter to check that theory out. Unfortunately, you will likely have to cut the mast somehow to shorten it's resonant electrical length. Alternatively, keep the 6707 and the mast intact for show (they are getting expensive) and clip on as small 1/4 wave antenna to the ROPS kit or the canvas top frame or the rear lip of the tub.....no one will notice it. The ROPS kit should make a wonderful groundplane for a 1/4 wave antenna
Alternatively, find a military 'blade' antenna surplus (air craft style that will resonate up to 152 MHz) and use that on the other side of the jeep mounted on a 'sugar scoop' base. Most of the blade antennas use BNC connectors so your coax should work fine.
