Hood tool rack
I'm making a couple tool racks for the hood.
Traced the pattern off a MSG tool rack.
I bought aluminum and had some water jet cut.
I used a hood to backdrill the plates. 12 holes.
I am making mine different than MSG's by using off the shelf aluminum tool head holders I cut out of U channel, and square tubing.
I'll have a guy weld them on next week....right now there not attached in photo's.
Once welded, I'll rhino line it.

Nice! I want to see more. Do you have any pictures of a military humvee with this mounted on it?

What unit is that hood from? 3-66 Armor, or 1-66 Armor? I might of had that HMMWV in my motorpool.

What do you anticipate asking for these when you have them finished?

I'm getting one welded today.Pablo66 wrote:What do you anticipate asking for these when you have them finished?
I'll get it either rhino lined, or line x'ed.
Once one is done , then I'll figure a price.
I don't know what tool mount straps to use yet.

Greg, they look pretty good from the pictures but I wanted to ask how your going to attach the footman loops? With that pick pointed the way it is I'd sure want something riveted to the base plate to keep it from moving back at me!

Re: Hood tool rack
It has a bend in it already, and it bolts up fine.
I clamped it and back drilled it before powder coat.

Thats the way the factory one is.Kurt Lesser wrote:Greg, they look pretty good from the pictures but I wanted to ask how your going to attach the footman loops? With that pick pointed the way it is I'd sure want something riveted to the base plate to keep it from moving back at me!
The metal brackets keep the tools from sliding out, and the rubber hold downs keep them in one position.....I have not got any of those yet.

Re: Hood tool rack
What kind of rubber hold downs did you end up using?
I have some military vehicles.
