IbisTek 4 can mount

Post by 86humv » Sun Sep 25, 2011 9:19 pm

I got 3ea. of these this weekend, and one is slightly bent, and the other two are bent alittle more, but fixable.
I just need the other bracket .....sold one today, might sell the other bent one later.
I'll probably fix it, then sell it....They will only work with a right side mount tire carrier. Won't work with the Rhino, so I got a new IbisTek tire carrier, and see if I'll like it.

I like my Ibistek carriers on the rear of my truck Greg.
I'm not a big fan of the Rhino lift.
The 4 cans and the offset tyre location of the ibistek won me over.
Then there's the weight difference...

Is this how your mount would work in conjunction with the IBIS Tek tire carrier, Greg? Or is the one depicted different?

Do any of the 'boxes' you have, have un-salvageable mounts? looks like it might not be a bad setup to strap into the bed of my truck.

Bikeman,

I believe you can get purpose designed carriers for just that from http://www.milsysgroup.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, and I believe they are an approved supplier to Uncle Sam.

Check out their website, they have lots of cool gear.

Thanks for the confirmation Greg. I got two of these from Dave as well.
By the way, did you find the Bag that covered the winch crammed full of Silver Kennedy Fifty Cent Pieces?

I have an Ibistek rear bumper like the one Dilvoy has pictured. Does anyone know if this require's specific Ibistek brackets or can some regular HMMWV rear airlift brackets be used. There are not enough holes to use all the regular brackets. The overall dimensions of the Ibistek rear bumper seem to me much the same as a regular bumper. I guess it may be possible to magdrill holes in it to use a full set of regular brackets.Maybe with some reinforcement. If anyone has any clues let me know.I did a forum search but no one else has mentioned this puzzle.

The bumper in that photo uses the "normal" Humvee bumper brackets. Those IBISTEK tire and can holders do fit onto a Humvee bumper so I see no reason for their bumper to be different, unless you have some early design that was in use for a while.

I wrestled with some iron and didnt get so far. There are only 16 holes in an Ibistek rear bumper rather than the 20 in a regular HMMWV bumper. The outside brace holes seem about right but the big box bracket will need 2 additional holes for sure if the two on the Ibistek line up.Two more holes would still be needed for the triangle box section brackets. The central four holes at the tow point are too low to line up with regular braces since the tow point has been dropped down a couple of inches. Its not ideal all round. I read somewhere else that the Ibistek rear bumper has no end airlift points as its not as strong as a regular bumper, though it seems just as heavy,so I guess that the issue may be a reduced number of brackets and overall strength.Eastern surplus seem to have a pile of Ibistek bumpers but I guess all the brackets went in another dumpster years ago. Drilling the bumpers to make them work with regular brackets seems the only option.
