Hi Alex,
They are about A$97 here, so you should expect it to be ~45 Euro's I'd think.

Cheers

Okay brad my diagnose box is now wired but are you sure with the postion of the serial data?
I ordered the connector but ther where no contact in that position I hope your illustration shows the socket?

Yesterday I received a call from another company they offered me 2 connectors for a price of 88 Euros EACH!

Hi Alex,

I am quite confident it is correct.
However, you must remember that we are talking about an OBD1 ALDL 16 pin connector NOT a 16 pin OBD2 connector.
The TCM in a Humvee is not OBD2 (EOBD)compliant.

Here's a quick lesson on OBD2:
Image

All ISO/OBD2 compatible cars with have pins in all of these locations with, maybe, the exception of the L Line.
The L Line is used to wake up the ECU but this can be done via the main data line (K Line) on most ECUs.
EOBD communicates via a number of procotcols CAN Bus, ISO, KWP and VPW each one has a different data line in the connector. but power and ground are common to all (4 for Ground 16 for Power).

CAN Protocol Pins
If pins 5, 6, 14 and 16 are populated, the vehicle supports CAN.

Pin # Description
4 Ground
6 Data
14 Data
16 Power

ISO and KWP Protocol Pins
If pins 5, 7, 16 and, optionally, 15 are populated, the vehicle supports ISO or KWP.
Pin # Description
4 Ground
7 Data
15 Data (this pin is optional and may not be present)
16 Power

VPW Protocol Pins
If pins 2, 5 and 16 are populated, the vehicle supports VPW.
Pin # Description
2 Data
4 Ground
16 Power

PWM Protocol Pins
If pins 2, 5, 10 and 16 are populated, the vehicle supports PWM.
Pin # Description
2 Data
4 Ground
10 Data
16 Power
So I would suspect, what you bought was a 16 pin EOBD plug. You will need to change it to the old style pin configuration if you want to use a Tech 1.

I hope this helps

Cheers

So I think I'm done do you already ordered the mil plug?

Hi Alex,

Yes I've ordered my Mil Plug. It's on its way to me now.
They shipped it to the wrong address , and have got it back and are resending it to me (at the right address).
I bet I don't get it until I'm back from the US in 3 weeks though.
Still, its hardly a life threatening issue! :D

oh, and yes a 16pin OBD1 connector body is the same as an OBD2 connector body.

Brad,

Are you going to make a swing through Indiana to see Paul for another load of parts?

Hi Larry,

No time for anything much on this trip. :?
Though I will be driving by.
I am flying in to St Louis for meetings and driving to Dayton for a meeting.
From there I fly to NYC to present to a Board there. Next is a road trip to Buffalo, Toronto and I finish up with meetings in Detroit before flying back.
I have most of a weekend in Detroit, so I hope I can catch up with the MI boys. I'm dying to see Teds truck if I can.

I doubt I'll even have a Humvee part in my bags on the way back this time!

Cheers

Well. I was wrong!
The plug turned up on my desk this morning (the day before I leave).
This'll give me something to do when I get back!
