Sonoma County fires.

Post by Bart1015 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:21 pm

I live in West Santa Rosa and own some property.

Once I am certain that we will not be evacuated Ill open up my field to anyone needing to store their Military Vehicle. I do not have any covered areas but vehicles should be safe here. I have a lot of people here keeping my property secure and safe from the looters that are starting to appear.

In order to determine if this is needed, please with reply to this or send me a PM. If there is no need, I'll allocate the available space to taking on loose farm animals.

Just heard from Tom Furrer in Santa Rosa. I guess he is evacuated. Please keep us updated.

I heard that Terry O'Connor lost his house and the Ford Woodie he restored in the Coffee Park area. Gary Williams lost his house and two jeeps in the Coffee Park area also. I don't know if Lee Hoskins is OK at his place. He was off Hwy 12 outside of Santa Rosa.

The winds this afternoon and tonight will not be as high as Sunday night but will be from the same direction and will blow south and west again which will endanger Santa Rosa again and points south. I haven't heard anything from others yet.

That’s heartbreaking. I know how much time and money he spent on the woody. He has helped a lot of people on their projects. I hate to see bad things happen to good people.

Terry's place was about 2 miles from where I am at. It is true, he lost his home and car. The last time I was in contact with him he seemed ok but upset.

Northwest and Northeast Santa Rosa is destroyed. Fires are not contained and its windy, but they were making some headway until it got dark. The air tankers are not able to fly in the dark.

Seems like there is enough Law Enforcement guys/gals to stop some looting. God bless our guys and gals in blue (Fire and Police).

So far West of Santa Rosa city limits is ok.

My house is getting full, but we will not turn away anyone. If you have an RV, I have water and power for now (well water).

The fires east of Sonoma have not threatened the many interesting military aircraft and other collectibles at Sonoma Valley Airport, aka Schelleville Airport, but the owner who also runs Vintage Aircraft Company (war bird rides) has been mowing his grass short and wetting things down. He said something funny when asked if he was planning to relocate his P-40N, SNJ trainer, and super rare Grumman F3F biplane fighter. He said, "I'd move the two Stearman biplanes first. They are the ones that make me money!"

Thank you to all who offered to aid and help my family during this disaster. It’s gonna be a long road back
Sincerely
