Jeep Evolution Display at Camp Delta, April 2010, Lodi, CA

Post by John Neuenburg » Mon Sep 07, 2009 12:15 pm

Next April 2010 at the largest annual MV event in the western U.S., we are planning a “one of each” military jeep display -prototypes through the various models and variants all the way to the M151A2 (event was postponed from last April). We are looking for jeeps and their owners who want recognition for helping with this unique display, photo opportunity, and subsequent magazine articles. This is challenging because the list is over 30 jeeps!

See the “wish list” below. We are looking for typical examples, and since there is no judging except “People’s Choice” we do not need top restorations. Ideally the jeep will look “as issued,” meaning without later modifications. Accessories should not conceal important features. We will have recognized jeep experts leading casual or formalized discussions about evolutionary changes in the quarter ton truck and we encourage jeep-related displays or seminars to run concurrently in the Pavilion or outside. Come learn about jeeps!

Do you want to be a part of this? Do you know of specific jeeps that might attend and would be right for the display? Please give us the contact info. We are particularly looking for the prototypes plus certain others that you regulars know are rare. All participants will receive a personalized commemorative certificate. At our Fall event this September we will be picking candidates and alternates Thursday-Saturday. We are also having an open meeting on Saturday the 26th where you may bring your jeep for review.

We are also looking for a Presenting Sponsor who wants recognition prior to and during the event, and if a vendor at Camp Delta we have a way to drive traffic to their tables. Contact me about this via PM or e-mail. Assistant POCs for this event are Lloyd White at gpwmb20@aol.com.com and Chuck Lutz at cwl1948@comcast.net.

Camp Delta at Tower Park rally is the largest annual MV gathering and vendor/flea market event in the Western U.S. The Military Vehicle Collectors of California have been putting on their big Spring rally since the late 1970s. Attendees bring around 200 MVs including trailers. It’s the biggest buying and selling opportunity in the region because there is no charge to be a vendor (only your KOA camping fee) and a lot of pros and amateurs show up. Weather is typically good and it’s a great way to kickoff the MV driving season. Navigate the above website for details about the 2009 event.
Other showcases planned for April are “all era and nationality” Medical Vehicles, Staff Cars, Armored Cars, plus a British WW2 Airborne display.

We're looking for the gentleman in Oregon that brought the M718 Muttbulance to Tower for the big M151 display a couple years ago. Want to invite him to the Jeep Evolution display. Anyone know him?
