Re: Selling my 1941 Dodge WC-12
My WC-12 has a bad oil pressure gauge. I know it's the gauge because the line is clear and the pressure is high. Two other mechanics have rendered the same opinion and I have put a lot of parade miles on this truck with no problems. I thought it would be a simple fix but these gauges seem to be rarer than hens' teeth. Anybody have one to spare?
My plan now is to install a temporary gauge and send the existing gauge out to be rebuilt. Anybody have a better idea?

I see them on ebay often. Some are NOS and others installed in clusters. I think they are not prone to failing , so a cheaper used cluster may produce a take-out that works, or a NOS one also avail. There are usually 4 or 5 for sale at any given time. $35-$100 is the range

So why didn't I try the obvious: Ebay? 'Getting old, probably.
Used or NOS are the easy solutions. Thanks, 17thAirborne.

I'm guessing that the size of my photos is the culprit. I just emailed only 4 photos to some guys and they went through. 'Probably size is keeping me from posting pics on this or any forum.

Got 'em. Not sure what was going on with the e-mail, but looks like it's working now. The photos were a bit large, so I shrunk down the size to post here. These are photos of Michael's truck. Nice truck:

Exactly what I was thinking on the 'beat up' portion of an MV. I have to say that it is rare for me to see such a beautiful truck in the wild! Absolutely stunning! If only it was more beat up and the price was lower

Re: Selling my 1941 Dodge WC-12
Thanks for the compliments but everything isn't perfect. The lights: this is a daily runner so I have turn signals instead of proper black out lights. And after much investigation the oil pressure is normal but the gauge is broken, a rare experience. I bought a replacement but it isn't installed yet. And the top bow corners are bent metal (probably from M37) instead of original bent wood bows. A purist might demand exact top bows.
The original gas filter is there but I put an inline fuel filter in. It could easily be converted back to original, but for a daily driver, I prefer the inline filter.
I knew the owner of this truck and bought it from his widow. It had the usual rust and bent steel from 75 years of use. The real work here was the body work. That's why it looks so good: total straightening, repair, and paint. And I knew the care the 230 engine had. The truck had sat for a number of years but it fired right up after a tune up. Doesn't burn or drip.
I regularly take this out weather permitting. Otherwise it is garage kept.
It's not perfect, but it is within spitting distance (lights and bows) for the purist.

Re: Selling my 1941 Dodge WC-12
What is so great about it Mike, is that it is a real WC12
Out of the dozens of WC12s for sale, i bet yours is only one of the couple that have the correct cab and bed!!
The rest is easily changed

Re: Selling my 1941 Dodge WC-12
I have to agree with Ernie's assessment of this truck. Nice example all around.
A real military cab. Original sheet metal. Looks good. Even has rear troop seating? (Original rear seat brackets Mike?)
To me the price is low. But that's me after spending much more than Mikes asking price to get mine looking and performing well on the road.
And yours don't drip
