I guess it doesn't matter, but I want to use the correct original thickness. Not like I will be actually hauling anything in it.
So, I think that is, 7/8ths for the floor and 3/4 for the sides and top. Unless anyone has any good evidence to the contrary; there are a lot of opinions here, and out there.
I just have to have it correct.

The original 1/2 ton boards are 7/8. All the civilian bed kits are 3/4, That is what i used in my WC4 and VC5
you can't tell the difference

All of the bed floor boards will be one piece as they are only about 7 3/4ths wide, and ten feet long. But the side boards and top, center and tool box lids will have to be made from two pieces. That is where the tongue and groove, or biscuits come in. And glue.

I didn't have any problems with mine, The both look good.
The only mistake i made was on the VC
The floor kit i ordered was for a WC. the last mounting bolt was in a different location

All of which is why I won't use a "kit" and will have the boards milled to the original specifications.
Thanks to all who helped.

I just put in the boards John sent me,painted them, they look great and I really don't give a darn about .125 difference where no one will ever know it may or may not be missing... If it was a square fender on one side, and a round one on the other, then I'd probably have concern... But 1/8" in thickness for a truck which will never haul the full military payload? Not worth the trouble.

Most definitely is important to me and since I am making them, it is just a easy to make them correctly. It's not a load capacity issue. Not to mention that I can't afford to buy the kit.
Anyway, in my restorations, I like to do everything I can, myself, so it's no trouble.
Yes I know that 3/4ths boards work fine.
