Auto-Lite 12 Volt Regulator Identification
I found a 12 volt Auto-Lite regulator that is stamped at 40 amps. The model number is: VRA 4105 A. Anyone know what vehicle this would have come from? I have located some parts lists, but this particular model is not listed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Zepher, Tech Manual 9-1825B list generator GBG-4612 as the match for the regulator. Check that out if you have not already.

Thank you! No, I had not seen that TM. Still curious what vehicle this regulator/generator combination would have been on, but that helps a lot.

Zepher, I saw generator brushes on a site for sale that listed them as GBG-2012 and the seller stated that they were for Reo, Diamond T, White and Brockway trucks. These heavy duty type VRY voltage regulators were also used on civilian trucks of the late 30's and 40's.

Re: Auto-Lite 12 Volt Regulator Identification
Interesting. I'm not that savvy why some trucks of that era were six volt and others were 12 volt and would use a 12 volt regulator like the VRA 4105 A. I know that the WWII era Dodge WC radio rigs were 12 volt...and late war WC's as well. Finding the matching GBG-4612 generator for this regulator might be like finding a needle in a haystack.cjv-35 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2017 12:53 pmZepher, I saw generator brushes on a site for sale that listed them as GBG-2012 and the seller stated that they were for Reo, Diamond T, White and Brockway trucks. Zepher, I forgot to ask you if you could post the info on the data plate. Just curious to see what month and year it was made.

I have no idea how to decode the data tag. Here it is. I would be interested to know what month and year this was produced:

Ah ha, the decoder. Haven't seen that before. Don't know how I have missed that before. Thanks! They must have used this style regulator, "VRA 4801 A", for a very long time. Now if I could only find the generator, now that I know what the generator code is, that matches this regulator. The TM notes that if another generator code is used that doesn't match the regulator, that eventually it would destroy the regulator.rjbeamer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 24, 2017 6:28 pmDec. 1953 is how I would read it Zeph.

Thanks Zepher for the pic. As mentioned, Dec, 1953. Assume find and still has the lock wire intact meaning it has not been opened. Hope you can find a GBG-4612 generator for the match.

Zepher, Just a further not on the generator. According to TM9-1825B, the generator is a four-pole, four-brush unit.
