Finally got a new driven gear for my transfer case, new old stock from Holland, all fitted ,nice easy job.all gaskets replaced and shims checked, going by the wear on the pinions it looks like i will probably have to replace them.

Also finished putting my MU winch together, all new gaskets fitted and finally back in the frame, and only a few scratches to the paint work..looking at other peoples restorations i don't know how they keep the previously restored and freshly painted parts from getting marked and dirty,i obviously need a bigger garage..
I have the same situation in my shop. Not enough room. I am always moving something to make room for something else and until it gets bolted onto the frame, the potential for wear to the finish is there. Once I got a fair amount pinned on, I gave the areas of marring a light coat of OD to cover.
TC looks great. Its nice to get it to the assembly stage. I ended up sleeving some of my yokes. They were grooved from years of neglect and running in dirt.

Looking great!!!

Yes cheers Oz,never enough room...you must be getting ready to start you engine soon?

Heres a quick update on my Command car project.

Ive finished rebuilding the MU winch and got it mounted back on the frame, all new gaskets fitted and shimmed to run freely,i still need to buy 2 x 5 inch long bolts to fix the front tow hook as it goes all the way from top to bottom. So all mounting nuts bolts and washer have been replaced, i will go through all the old bolts ,clean them up and see if i can put them back on..just nice to see it on the frame.

Oh and heres a picture of my project so far..ive fitted the front grill and wings to get them out the way, they will be coming back off so i can work on the rest,im thinking of lifting the body off using ratchet straps attached to the roof of the garage, that will allow me to get to the rest of the chassis..?
And the underside of the body..not sure how that will go .i will post pictures if i attempt it.

Cheers Oz,

Yes not sure if the extra bump stops are on all types ,maybe only on winch versions ? as that quite a lot more weight at the front? !

Looking at the way ive mounted the upper bump stops im not sure if the bolts go the other way round ?

Ive been working on my Inlet manifolds as well recently,i had a spare that i managed to get three of the bolts out of but messed up the last on and cracked the side of the manifold if i want to use it i will have to get it brazed like Zeph did on his.
I have another that is the correct one with the high carb mounting, but this one has all 4 bolts brocken off in its im going to give this to a machine shop to look at..

Sorry you are having issues also with the mani. I had to have 3 of the screws taken out and the entire thing was nearly rusted together. Its nice to see the progress and the pic of the correct orientation of the governor on the mounting plate.

I'm still trying to separate the intake manifold from the exhaust manifold I broke. Those studs just won't loosen up. I have used all kinds of penatrant over the past month or more, but no luck. May try some heat, but doubt that will work either. If you braze your crack, you should be good to go.

With all these rusted bolt issues, would the EDM process work on some of it? I'm just asking as I have used it on motorcycle parts that have had their bolt heads destroyed.
