Re: EBAY repro parts scam alert
The saddest part about all of this is he has one (1) negative feedback and it wasn't because it was a repop. The feedback system is horrible! IMHO, sellers should not be able to leave negative feedback unless the buyer doesn't pay and feedback should be left immediately upon receiving payment. The buyer should feel safe enough to post whatever deserving feedback he likes without the threat of the seller retaliating by leaving bad feedback. I suspect that is why his feedback reads the way it does along with many others.

Re: EBAY repro parts scam alert
All males of the Sikh religion of India have the surname "Singh" which means "tiger" and this is probably where the connection for the Indian made repro parts comes from and the NOS-Replica parts also. All Sikhs I have known wear turbans. Jeeps of all ages and vintages are popular in India and were manufactured in India. Mahindra Co. started with surplus jeep after WW2 and made several variants of various CJ and some jeeps in Viet Nam were Mahindra licensed Jeeps. They still makes a jeep CJ replica there and it was recently rumored that they might be imported to the US. There is a huge jeep parts aftermarket industry in India and lots are small businesses. Quality runs from poor to excellent but the less expensive, lower quality is the rule because it is priced cheap. Thanks for the tip-off. Buy your parts from Ron Fitzpatrick at G503 and you won't get ripped-off.

Bill, Out here at least a seller cannot leave negative feedback period, This is a part of what eBay responded to me in a dispute I had with a seller.Bill H. wrote:The saddest part about all of this is he has one (1) negative feedback and it wasn't because it was a repop. "In instance of negative & neutral feedback towards buyers, eBay no
longer permits seller’s to leave buyers negative or neutral feedback. We
also no longer seller's to leave negative remarks in positive ratings to
circumvent this policy.
This decision was made because too often buyers were being left negative
& neutral feedback only as retaliation for negative & neutral feedback
they chose to leave for the seller. This was occurring often enough that
it was discouraging buyers away from leaving honest feedback & from eBay
entirely. The feedback forum is meant to be a place for buyers to leave
their opinion of the sale & how it went."

Re: EBAY repro parts scam alert
Fellas. I have a strong suspicion of who this guy is. Let me tell you a few things. He is NOT based in Canada. He is NOT based in the USA (as per his current eBay profile) and he is not a Sikh with a surname of SINGH.
He is based in India. I know what industry he works in. And i am NOT surprised with his behavior. He has ripped of many unsuspecting buyers with such repros made in the Indian capital of Delhi. Many people who have not learnt from the G and it's helpful members have fallen for his "NOS stuff". Check him up on FB. He is a disgrace to the hobby. I have a strong suspicion of who the supplier is as well.

Look at his profile above - he is in USA now.
What a fraud

The parts are listed as reproductions sourced from India, we all know that many of the repro items available for Jeep and sold in this country are from India and not always original spec.

Re: EBAY repro parts scam alert
I suspect that was not the case in the past. I know attempts have been made to sell reproduction as Original on FB. Plus he is not based in USA. It is not the G members who are caught out. There are many people out there who don't know the original from reproduction (yours truly in some instances) and they are the ones who suffer.

Part of the learning curve for the new Jeep restorer is making mistakes and getting burned, it can get expensive and is a fact of life. It did not used to be that way years back when original parts were available.

JUST FOR THE RECORD
Part of being useful to other gee members is helping them out with advice on a suspect part or patently fake part, rather than repeating like a broken record that "getting burned is part of the learning process".Ben Dover wrote:Part of the learning curve for the new Jeep restorer is making mistakes and getting burned, it can get expensive and is a fact of life. You have done it constantly everytime any one complained for having been taken for a ride, be it when the scumbag with multiple identities screwed Roger with a fake lugnut wrench, be it when someone after five years has not delivered to Chuck Lutz what was bargained for.
It is about time you stop this.
And for once, let us not mention those "genuine G.I. WWII Irwin screwdrivers that were, supposedly, of WWII manufacture, without any evidence of them having actually been made in War Time.

The habit of bashing vendors is a two way sword, it also creates a list for vendors of customers to avoid as there are some that one just cannot please.

Re: EBAY repro parts scam alert
While I believe in Caveat Emptor"(let the buyer beware), that the buyer should educate him/her self, I also believe that the seller should not set out to deceive.ebay seller wrote:You are bidding on what I believe is a set of original GPW reflector bezels. I don't know if the reflectors themselves are original. They are in take out condition. Please do your research before bidding.
By the clever wording in the item description, I feel this seller knows his product is not what the title suggests, and is placing the blame of buying mislabeled parts on the buyer.
