Santa...bring me a Carter 539S!

Post by Chuck Lutz » Mon Nov 27, 2017 11:03 am

Christmas is coming, how is your jeep restoration coming along?

I have a couple more 100% correct Carter 539S rebuilds from Scoutpilot for sale. You can see his on-the-running-jeep testing on You Tube for them:

1) Chuck's WO539S flange stamp "801"

2) Chuck's WO539S flange stamp "404" This one is sold pending funds!.......Thanks Chris!

3) Chuck's WO539S flange stamp "B" This one is sold pending funds!....Thanks Rich!

Now, they all have the correct factory "407" on the flange but two if them have a stamp that indicates they have been rebuilt previously (those are the 404 and 801 stamps). The third just has the letter "B" you see on them and no rebuild stamping. The flange on each has a parked finish on it.

Price is $525.00 each plus shipping. I pack them in the USPS Flat Rate box and insure them for $600 so that comes to $22.75 plus $525 domestically for a grand total of $547.75. You get insurance and tracking that way and I can safely pack them for shipment. I don't need PayPal right now, so a Postal Money Order will be the method of payment.

These come with Scoutpilot's warrantee and they are beautiful!

Rules of Engagement:
You send me an email and the time I get the email determines who will get one...don't post "I'll take one!" here; I want your email address, your name and please include your address to confirm shipping costs.

Hello Chris, you and i spoke earlier this year about a carb for my 42 Slat. My original would not let the engine idle properly despite many hours of checking, cleaning and using the proper tools to set it. In the end, i brought another original from Europe and this works perfectly.
I know you have experience of them, it is worth trying to rebuild my original or just sell it on ?
Perhaps you could let me know, best wishes
Alan

Alan, im not sure if you tried this, but, you can get Carter rebuild kits, the usual parts specialists should stock them.

If you can't get it to idle, then the flange probably needs to be bushed and possibly the throttle shaft needs to be replaced. Once you have set up everything else i it won't idle, that's the most likely cause....if you can feel ANY wiggle, that is the issue....0.005" wear is when you replace or in this instance bush the flange.

Hi Alan, not sure but didn’t you buy that one from me ? Despite that I can rebuilt yours and also can do an exchange for your old with a rebuilt one. Just let me know. I only use NOS parts in my carbs, still have a small stock of the Carter master rebuilt kits.
