Matt>>This seller has been putting a bunch of Junk tools for sale for years and listing them as a vintage WW2 jeep tool kit.....We have discussed him before....Just wanted to tell everyone that he is still out there looking for unsuspecting buyers who feel these tools are the 'real deal'....He sells a lot of these 'kits'...Check his feedback.....Most G503 guys know of his conduct over the years.

Hugh, we used to warn potential buyers so they would not waste money on these loads of junk.
Let us keep doing it.

THIS JEEP (!!!) TOOLKIT IS JUST A LOAD OF JUNK!

Lets dig a bit deeper for those who might see this and want the elevator education...

- Jack...similar to MB/GPW, but the square base is for a different application.
- Oil Can is too small...4" is acceptable, 4.5'' base is preferred
- hammer is a maybe
- screwdriver is a maybe, both the driver and hammer can be found at fleamarket for peanuts or bought here reasonably.
- The sparkplug wrench MIGHT actually be military, and might fit the plugs on the jeep...but it is about $5 or $10 from Ron in stock.
- The grease gun is junk for a jeep. See that filler dealy sticking out the side? dead giveaway for non-jeep GG
- the lug wrench is a modern civilian painted green. It is junk.

for a second....let's ASSUME the screwdriver is the correct size. That makes it's overall length 11". We can now glean that the adjustable (supposed to be 11" also) is too short to be correct...it's an 8" auto and junk for a jeep kit. Peanuts at the fleamarket and readily available under $5 if you want one for whatever....

- pliers...see that screwdriver tip? incorrect for a jeep kit. Length (6") is OK, but the shape is wrong. Correct pliers can be had here under $10
- left to right, the first 5 wrenches are the correct TYPE and are an accepted BRAND (select steel). After that....THANKS TO LUCA for the better pic, we can now see the 4 of the 5 are junk, making the "set" junk. Select Steel or Indestro does not have a large following, and most view them as fillers. SO....they are available here and at the flea for negligible money. I'd value that "set" at somewhere in the $20 range for all five.... Maybe $30 if I have a soft spot for that brand.
- those two wrenches to the right of the 5 are pure-T junk. Based on shank design, the double open end wrench is not an acceptable maker. The open/box combo wrench is the wrong STYLE for the jeep....so junk.
- bag.....canvas is a plus. The tie strap is a field repair making the bag worth less even if the rest IS a wartime correct bag. Which I doubt....If it was a US marked bag of the correct War-time accepted features, it certainly would not be facedown in my add!

So...if anyone is still reading....it's junk. with maybe 3-4 tools valuable to a WWII jeep onboard tool kit. Certainly worth no where near the prices this guy seems to have a knack for bringing in.

Luke, the biggest open end wrench is not a 731A, but a 731B
In place of the required 28-S there is a 729...
No 27-C, of course, but rather a 027, whatever that is.
Oh yes, there is a correct size 723, made by Indestro: never seen anyone paying more than a tenner for what is undeniably merely a filler...

Re: He is still selling... junk.

Hugh and Luke, surprisingly I had a little extra time, and I was in the mood, so I asked the guy why does he keep selling junk...

Here is his answer, that we can read just for fun. After all his buyers ( not many, as he appears to be more of a buyer than a seller) should do their homework first...

OK, People like you call this Junk, Some Collect Junk Like this. You just don't know, the story behind this. Well we inherit 400 thousands acres in AZ. We fly out and collect JUNK from Military Surplus thing like this from all kind of jeeps. About 300 of them. The land had Thousands of aircrafts and trucks, jeeps of all kinds. The Gov, Did not want the Trouble of Removing the stuff, from the Buildings, and land. So we have it now. So Happy Bidding on the JUNK. Thank You. And Have A GREAT Day. P.S. My Great Grand Father, Had the Land So on, so on & so on. I Am old now, and our family will take over.

Luke, are you sure re the oil can? I thought 4' base was spot on. 3.75' base is too small for the holder, 4.5' is too big isnt it?

I honestly admit I may have missed something as I cant keep up with all the wonderful developments in tool research over the past few years!

Cheers,
Ian.

I also thought 4" was the correct base, even though other cans may fit in an 'adapted' bracket.(by bending the 2 tabs)
