WW2 Jeep Jack Price Guide?

Post by Quasimodo » Sat Jan 06, 2018 1:22 pm

I have a couple of original WW2 jeep jacks that I am selling to a friend - can anyone give me some guidance on what would be a fair price to ask these days. Good working condition original OD paint remnants etc. Thanks.

It would help to see a picture of the jack. But in general, Not counting a lucky flea market find, For a correct ww2 jack with good patina on the auction site you can usually expect to get 100-150$. For a really good buddy I'd go 50$ or less.

Thanks for your reply - about what I figured ie., a good original would have to be worth the price of one of the repros.

Original jacks seem quite rare here in England, but there are quite a few repros about, not sure on prices though.

I would generally agree that any decent original part should be priced starting at the cost of a repop and then, based on condition and the scarcity of the originals in your neck of the woods that price can vary widely.

While the repops should be close in price from vendor to vendor and country to country so to speak...if in a place like Australia where shipping is the only way to get one from anywhere else...it may be a much rarer original part and command twice the price or more of an original. Then again if there are enough of them around, the price would not be as high....but to me, there is a premium for an ORIGINAL part!

I would try to ask Aussie jeepers what they see them going for in the jeep community...not what some guy found at a flea market for $5.00, but what is a fair price for them at jeep meets. From there you can discount the price to your friend accordingly.

My take is that they are rarely offered for sale out here, in fact I have only seen one. I got mine off the auction site in the US.and saved big time even after taking postage into account.

I would say a really decent Jeep jack on the market out here is at least $200

I was lucky with my GMTK items with guys like Phil, Jason, Greg and others holding it all for me until a flat rate box was filled, getting single items is a killer

Ok thanks for your insights - ended up selling them for $100 bucks a piece and then even swapped one for something worth less - no thanks from him though - so it's no more parts for him ever!

Unfortunately there are a few bad apples in our hobby, plus the make a quick buck merchants, but the good guys outweigh the bad by far.
