Re: UK 2017 finds
Hi Roger. Nice finds! Congrats on the IRWIN - as it looks like no markings on the shank. Probably a great candidate for that reproduction stamp you've been planning! What's the story on the Pyrene? Did they have a factory in England? Still jealous of how often items bear the WD and the crowsfoot and a date!
Also, check your PM please.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Hi Roger! I always enjoy seeing what you find over there compared to what we find here. That BB 12" adjustable is interesting. Of course there is no way to know for sure when it arrived on your shores but the Barcalo catalogs we currently have have available show a different style adjustable wrench. Knowing that you found it there, to me, gives some evidence that it is plausible for the GMTK.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Hi Greg,
Pyrene was started in 1907 in the US by a Scotsman who then started an offshoot 'The Pyrene Company' in 1914 in the UK. Most brass pump bottles I find over here are by 'The Pyrene company'. I have a 1944 dated one currently on the Jeep so it is nice to get a slightly earlier one. Obviously not correct for a Factory Jeep but good for one in British service. I have not compared a British versus US one to check similarities but they fit the bracket nicely.
I don't think anybody in the UK produces repro decals for them though.
Phil,
I will look over my other BB wrenches to check the styles, I think the 2 other 12" adjustables I have are tear drop hangers.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Roger,
As Phil said above, I'm pleased to see that you found that style of Barcalo adjustable wrench in the U.K. I have thought that style was wartime correct for quite a while and have them in my GMTK.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Roger,
Are the teardrop hanging hole wrenches this style, without the hanging hole reinforcement? I think this is the style shown in the '43 Barcalo catalog.

Nice find Roger. The Signal Corp definitely had the coolest stuff to work with.

Re: UK 2017 finds
This is what the emergency email to Roger (and later, Cliff, after I didn’t hear back from Roger immediately...) was all about:
WWII British Field Medical pannier, made of canvas, leather, and wicker over an iron frame, on iron reinforced wooden skids. It has a drop front panel that provides access to two drawers on the bottom, which were missing. There are chains on the back for rigging. And two manila rope handles on either side for lifting. Other than a broken strap on the left-hand side of the drop front (you can see leaning forward a little on that top corner for that reason), some badly desiccated leather around the corner and side of the lid on the right, and it being extremely filthy (the canvas should be an almost lime/OD green, a color somewhat visible at the very top edge all the way around), it was in pretty good condition with really nice markings. In addition to the "FIELD MEDICAL" and the red cross on the front, there was a red cross and a large "2" on either side.
Sorry for the bad photo. And I should've taken more.
Here's a similar one (they had one for a "Surgeon", "Medical Reserve," etc) in better condition with much better photos:
http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories ... al-pannier
The seller thought it was US Army, but I knew it was British and kept that to myself.
Alas, the guy wanted more than I was willing to pay, and too much with shipping for friends in the UK.
I am a little sick with regret now, but I'll get over it in a day or two. And I didn’t walk away empty-handed. More on that in my own thread, so as not to muck up Roger's any further.

Re: UK 2017 finds
Here are the ones I have already...........
Top is medical supplies, probably blood transfusion bottles,44 dated
Middle is metal lined with a 1941 date but the top needs a little repair.
Bottom is not dated and has a canvas cover with Copenhagen Tattoo daubed on it.
None of them are great examples but you can store a lot in them !

Re: UK 2017 finds
Thanks for your info this morning, Roger, and for the extra photos just now. I'm still kicking myself. Sometimes we get too smart for our own good if you know what I mean. Or I do anyway. I'm nitpicking the broken strap and the desiccated leather to get the price down and rationalizing if I could enjoy having it for awhile and then flip it thinking I might have a hard time breaking even with most interested buyers in the UK (and as you said, shipping would be prohibitively expensive!) and I ultimately passed it up for a difference that suddenly doesn't seem like a deal breaker!
