Phil,
Nice find on that ultra rare shorty offset. Congrats.
Luca,
I had in mind to use a Duro 2016 for the 41-W-608 but it was inches longer than the specification. Just sayin.

Just to qualify for any beginner GMTK collectors who may get confused by that comment, Don is referring to the specification (13") in the October 1942 SNL N-19, which pertained to the MVMTS. The length of the long 15* angle pattern DBE wrenches was not specified in the July 1944 ORD 6 SNL G-27, pertaining to the first GMTS. And in October 1944 the FSN's for all three (3) long 15* angle pattern DBE wrenches changed, and none of them had a length spec. The long Barcalos that we have seen in packaging with the mid- to late war FSN's are also longer, like the Duros.

Spelled out much more thoroughly than my cryptic comment. The other two long Duro DBE wrenches, 2014A and 2015A, come very close to the lengths specified for the 41-W-603 and 41-W-605. Thanks for explaining what I meant to say, Wingnutt!

I thought you were very clear and concise, Don - in the context of the MVMTS. I just wouldn't want any newcomers leaving a nice Duro-Chrome 2016 DBE wrench behind because they thought it was incorrect.

Thanks to a recent trade with Don I was able to upgrade the offset screwdriver in this set. It had been a long time since I had pulled this set out and gone through it. Thanks Don!
phil
Addendum: In case it doesn't show up well in the photo its a Mayhew offset screwdriver.

I’m glad that I was able to send a tool worthy of being added to such a historic set.

Somehow missed this update. I'm left wondering how in the world you were able to pry away that nice MAYHEW double offset from Don!
I went ahead and reread this entire thread. This is such a nice set. Pretty much a gold standard. Kudos to you Phil.

Thanks Jason. I really appreciate that.
As far as the Mayhew.....Well, as you well know Don never sleeps (I have several theories on why he doesn't but we could dedicate a whole other thread to that) so getting things out his basement vault can be very challenging. It took several months and near death experiences but I was able to procure an ancient sleeping remedy from a old friend in Egypt, Sallah. After several more months I finally befriended a guy at the Albany Water Works. Long story short I was able with the assistance of the Albany Water Works (apparently Don had upset them years ago arguing about his water bill) to slip Don this remedy. And while it took several weeks for him to slip into a light slumber when he did I was able to obtain the Mayhew and possibly a few other items. Thanks Don!

I would have responded but it seems like I’ve been sleeping a lot recently. I guess that comes with old age.
