You're most welcome Phil. Merry Christmas!
That ratchet looks like it was born with that set. Now, if we can just find some V22 nut drivers!
Do I spy that P&C close quarter driver in the pic as well?
Gotta love those upgrades!

Looks great. The B&W really adds to the vintage feeling.

A dream come true!
My own keeper set being supervised, assembled, upgraded by the guy who assembled this set is a warranty of success.

Congratulations once more for your achievements.

Well - you did bring up the subject of inspection Phil :D

Is there anything in the rules and regs specifying that chisels, punches, drifts, and so on should have the heads ground to remove any burrs or sharp edges, to keep the striking faces clean and square, plus prevent damage to the hand that is holding it?

Gordon,
There is nothing in the SNL N-19 along those lines. However, the TM 10-590 does include a ton of information on proper use and care of tools. It also has a lot of information on how to avoid injury for many tools.

Thanks Phil. I'm sure I've seen passing reference to that somewhere, probably on here.

I'm on the lookout for a 1" Plomb 86A cold chisel for my Machinists Set, which I know from the catalogue will be 8" or 12" long, but it struck me that a lot of the chisels photographed against rulers on that auction site were under length by up to 2", presumably because they had been dressed repeatedly at the striking end.

Another update to my '42 based set. I recently came across a box of NOS Vlchek chisels. Two of them have a very cool sticker but notice the spelling of Velchek on the sticker compared to Vlchek stamped on the handle. Its almost exactly to specs at 6 7/8".

The "VELCHEK" is in quotes, Phil. That was part of their branding in the 1930's and up through at least 1941. "VELCHEK" Tools and THE VLCHEK TOOL CO. can be seen on the front and the back of the 1936, 1938, and 1941 catalog. Inside, every reference to the company on every page uses the company name.

Great find!

Very nice Phil, It is good to add a bit of colour.

Are the three chisels different or are 2 the same ?
