plug gap?

Post by wc56daveyboy » Mon May 14, 2007 7:25 am

Just received in 4 brand new original style spark plugs.

can anyone tell me the gap that should be set?

Or are they already set right out of the box?

MAT2835 says 0,45 - 0,55 mm gap for the ABG708 plugs

so... .45 to .55 mm

that equates to 0.017" to .021" gap.

That sounds kind of tight, dosent it?

I have to say I was surprised too. I got that French manual only recently and so far had set the gap according to the MB manual. That gives you (sorry again in metric) 0.75mm of gap, so significant more than they want for the shielded plugs. I can confirm that with that larger gap my M201 did run perfectly ok for the last 17 years. Not sure if I will set the gap to what the manual says.

I checked my M151 manual too, they also call for 0.8 - 0.9mm gap with the shielded plugs.

Sorry to bring more confusion than clarification.
