.......Condensor ( condenser SP ) ....!! HT cables ...!!...Given the price i would change the points etc ..

Are you 6-12-or 24 V ??

Mmmm
How long does the engine run for before it starts to splutter ?
Of course when the engine is cold it needs more fuel to run (hence the choke) and then when warm needs no choke at all.
I am wondering wether the choke is actually coming off even though you are pushing it off !

If the condensor was faulty it would burn out your contact breaker points and you would have extreme difficulty starting the engine(hot or cold)
Just to cancel out anything obvious here - has this problem started after you ar anyone has done anything to the engine ?

Did the problem occour after the plugs were replaced ?
I am just thinking of plug heat rating before we move on.

sorry for not repyling sooner the brakes are now fixed however it still sometimes splutters when on hills replaced leads plugs rotorarm etc
also a squeeling noise some times happens i think it might be a brake cable problem will investigate tonight

I've seen a similar problem

Post by martin shaw » Tue Feb 12, 2008 12:36 pm

I think I have seen this before. A bloke I met had the same symptoms. He replaced the carb, distributor, rotor, condenser, plugs and leads and still got the same problems. The actual problem was traced to a leaking inlet gasket on the inlet manifold, which may be the squeeling noise you are hearing.

Let me know if this helps.
