FUEL PUMP - OIL IN PETROL !

Post by M201 PADDOCK WOOD » Thu Apr 19, 2007 2:11 am

Has anyone ever had oil mixing with the petrol inside the fuel pump and a high level of oil leaking from the bottom of the fuel pump body ? drain hole ! !
If revs increased slowly - not so much of a problem.
If revs increased qiuckly - a pool of oil , clouds of blue smoke from exhaust and rough running.

fuel pump

:D I would say that the diaphram has gone in the fuel pump, i had one go once and it filled the sump with petrol!. You'll find that there is a pinhole not sure which side it is and it is pulling engine oil in to the fuel line, hence the clouds of smoke. Not 100% but i reckon it's a fair bet.
Cheers lesjeep

Many thanks guys.
I have now changed the fuel pump and dumped the engine oil.
Did 30 miles yesterday and now have a gearbox oil leak
Engine ran like a dream and no blue smoke :D
I have yet to strip the old pump down and rebuild with a repair kit - At least then i will have a spare pump when i need it :!:
