I own 2 M38 jeeps that I've owned for almost 20 years. One of them had the floor replaced about 15 years ago with a NOS floor pan purchased from Sam Werner - Tracy City, Tennessee. The gussets on the floor replacement are identical to the Hotchkiss gussets. The other M38 has the original floor in it and it's gussets are also the same as the Hotchkiss.
Also, one M38 has the notch in the dash and the other does not.
Being that these are M series jeeps and not WWII, there isn't anything to go by as far as the tell tail signs of the Hotchkiss vs US goes.
Would anyone know whether Hotchkiss was producing parts for post war vehicles???

there is also some M38 technology used in later hotchkiss jeeps.
ignition, generator, 24 volt electrical system, but all made in France
but much M201 where modified to look als real MB's here in Europ
on details you can see that f.i. the rims have a special m201 design
m201 engine parts ( pistons, rings, valves..) are often use to rebuild original mb/gpw engines
