m201 keeps cutting out

Post by m9army » Mon Apr 22, 2013 3:18 pm

hi guys
please help , my m201 has been playing up for a long time now ,when cold it starts great - runs sweet no smoke pulls well

after a mile or so starts missing , then dies - it will turn over fast not a fire - ( at this time i am pulling my hair out ) i remove distro cap and look inside ( i have changed coil , condenser , points , before ) all looks ok

reinstall cap , starts straight up , a few seconds of random missing , then clears runs perfect

let it run about 5 mins , press throttle cuts out straight away ( will not start again )

leave it 1/2 hour starts up first time

i have had a carb kit put in , still the same

cleaned fuel filter

replaced all the leads

seems like something is getting hot and breaking down

anyone got any ideals

many thanks

Hi you didn't mention which distributor you have. Mine has a conventional distributor I had a similar problem and it was an intermittent condenser. I know you said you replaced this part but some times NEW means Never Ever Worked. Try to determine if it is a fuel or ignition problem even though you rebuilt the carb and tuned it up. Hope this helps. Don't give up.
