Another thing I have found is the quality of the pawls. 3 total.
Some repro pawls I have come across have rounded ends and the bump on top, in the center is not very pronounced.
More like a ripple than a bump.
The originals had square ends which made it harder for them to pop out.
I have reinstalled the old ones if they were in good shape instead of using the poor quality repro's.

There has been a 15 year history of wrong synchronizer plates being wholesaled to dealers, most are too long and jam the blocking rings. Good quality blocking rings are also hard to find, Ron should have them. Best to find genuine Borg Warner parts, or W.O.F if possible. Do not cut the ends off the synchronizer springs.

I noticed the differences in the bumps as well.
Much junk parts around when it comes to gearboxes.
Always reuse original parts when possible.
I still have 1 rebuild WOF gearbox in the crate, these internals will probably end up in my GPA

Hi Ben, Why not cutting the ends ?
Looks like it works for Mike.. :?
Please enlighten us...am aware you know what you are talking about.

I am not cutting both ends off on the synchronizer springs Ben.
Only one end. Leave the other on.
It needs to be inserted into one of the synchronizer plates. ( Not pawl as I described it. Thanks for the correction.)
