My torque reaction spring plate has a slight bend in it and the shock mount is slightly bent. Its not decayed from rust and original so I am thinking about heating the metal and trying to straighten it out. However I saw a post a while back about folks reporting bending and re shaping leaf spring plates and debates about weakening the metal. I am no metallurgist so I am looking for advice on whether my idea of heating and reshaping is viable or not. I certainly don't want don't to have the plate fracture when its back in service because heated and reshaped it.
Thanks

Re: Torque reaction spring repair
What you do is fire up your 20 ton press and straighten it. Bring it down and I'll do it for you.

Re: Torque reaction spring repair
Take the shock mounting plate along and cold press it with the 20-ton also. Heating it isn't the way to go with either part.
