637014 Head & Rear Axle Identification
Hey guys, newbie to the forum. Have tinkered on mostly 60s and up cars (and a Willys once) and not really anything this far back, so I'm looking for some help. I'd like to thank you guys in advance for anything you can contribute to this thread.
I purchased a fair amount of "older" parts a few weeks back at a garage sale and was just curious as to what I have. The head reads 637014 w/ W2 below it. My research so far shows this could be a PreWar MA head for a Willys (as opposed to GPW)?
I'm really lost on the rear axle though. 5x5.5" bolt pattern. "L" and "R" embossed on lug nuts. # on third member reads 314948 (possibly 314943?) w/ either an "A24" or "A04" above it. Also picked up a 4 speed painted in the same shade of red (59T-7006) that should be from a 30s-50 flathead Ford truck.
Here are some pictures. Thanks again!

Your 637014 head is a pre-war cast head as found on the Willys MA.

Appears similar to Spicer 41 used on later CJ-2A thru early CJ-3A. What is strange is the non CJ drive flange and style bearing retainer. Backing plates are also non standard. What is the distance between the spring seats.

Take another look Ben. You'll notice the third member drops out the front of the carrier. Not a Dana product. Likely Ford.

Re: 637014 Head & Rear Axle Identification
Thank you all of the help. How much rarer is the prewar MA head than a later production head? I am interested in selling it but also appreciate learning about parts that are uncommon in my usual tinkering. PM sent to you lad. The spring seats are approximately 45" from outer edge to outer edge, and measure about 1&3/4" in width each.

This one's a good challenge. Wish I had the time. You mentioned Ford, Marmon Herrington 1/2 Ton 4X4 or Woody Wagon conversion comes to mind, but most likely is not.
Will pass for now.
