Joes Motor Pool Body Panel Accuracy

Post by Old Pal » Wed Nov 15, 2017 4:14 pm

I have purchased a JMP rear panel, rear floor, toolbox lids, and fuel sump. They seem to be fairly accurate. I am thinking about replacing the wheel houses/arches while I've got the rear end of the body torn apart. The sides will have significant rust holes and drill holes and the tops are like soup bowls. Initially, I was going to metal shrink the top and patch the side panels. Anybody that has done body work knows how much work is involved. Now I'm thinking of replacing the wheel houses/arches with a JMP replacement. As body filler was not originally used, I'm looking to for a replacement that would be perfectly imperfect.

I know these will be fairly accurate, but has anybody done a direct comparison?

Do the bent corners follow the same radius?

Are the edges cut the same as the originals?

Do the spot welds look the same?

Are the spot welds spaced the same?

Are the overall dimensions the same?

Any experience would be greatly appreciated.

Joes motor pool parts have a very good reputation, so that speaks for itself. I dont have any hesitation in using them. :D

Same here, good quality and fit perfectly. I modified the JMP riser and rear floor to match the shape of the original items which was no problem and done in less than 10 minutes by removing some excess sheet metal. That is in no way a negative, quite the opposite really as it gives some flexibility when installing. I can't vouch for the wheel wells but I am considering their replacement.

As long as you place the spot welds to look similar to original, no problem.
Unlike todays " High Tech " assemblies, the jeep panels were spot welded by hand, so there is no exact location for each weld.

I wish to add my endorsement of JMP panels. I have bought several different panels for several different projects and they are all absolutely spot on! They fit well, look authentic and are of very high quality. I will definitely be purchasing more for use in yet more jeep projects.
