Wire Clip hardware

Post by Thunderbird712 » Thu Nov 09, 2017 5:09 am

Couple of questions WRT wire clip hardware for my 45MB. I looked through the SNL and couldn't find anything.

1) For the two clips that hold the starter cable and battery cable together what is the length of the #10 machine screw.

2) I have not found any clips listed for the fender and grill in the SNL. The clip descriptions in the SNL say "body". It seems like the clip counts in the SNL include the grill and fender. Since the clips on the fender and grill are the same as the main harness clips, are #10x5/8" machine screws used?

3) I have two of the three original clips for the fuel line(no strainer on the firewall). They both have flat washers. Has anyone observed flat washers with these clips?

For #1, hard to match up the specific screw in the parts lists to the two 78932 cable clamps, but a 10-24 x 5/8” round head seems to be used throughout these wire clips. Go with that.

#2, I’d also say yes.

#3, can’t help here

TJ,
Agree with Paul on 1 & 2...
I did find flat washers on the fuel line clips, though mine was the earlier routing. Here is a pick of my original fuel line where you can see the outline. The #10 x5/8 screws were Cad plated with a GM part number,I had a small bag of them I'll try to find...
TJ-your bolts should show up Monday.

Beers, Ralph

Sorry I missed your replies this weekend. Thank you both for the replies. The Jan 45 SNL was prior to the fuel strainer being removed from the fire wall so there is some differences to what my March 45 had.

After posting I looked at my original clips and determined what I thought was one of the fuel line clips was actually the bond strap to speedometer cable clip. It had no evidence of the black finish on it but rather the just plated. I found atleast one of the original fuel line clips and it had a black finish to it with no signs of a washer. That is interesting that you found washers on the fuel line clips.

Ralph - Thank for the bolts.
