willys frame measurment

Post by aldos » Thu Sep 21, 2017 12:52 pm

Hello all,

Just one question, is the MB frame is the same of cj2a frame?

MY frame (a willys MB frame of december 43) as exactly the same measurement as shown on the cj2a TM but not at all as shown on MB Technical manual.

Once more my frame is a MB frame of december 43 and sure it is not à cj2A frame.

Any ideas ?

Does it have a machine gun mount? All MBs do. and GPWs. Not sure about the 1945 CJ2As.

The rear shock absorber brackets on the CJ-2A frame are in different locations, same goes for the cross member for the rear engine mount, the CJ-2A is 1" Farther back.

Yes it s a MB frame and there is the cal. Mount on rear and the frame plate (Earl y model) on front with remains of OD paint the frame is a Good ww2 frame but have the same dimensions as the cj2 a frame ("e" and "f" on TM ) same thing between the bracket shackle and the bracket pivot on rear and front i ve found the same measurement as shown on the cj2a TM not as the willys MB /Ford gpw TM.

HI Aldos, I don't know what cj2a frames measure but there was a mistake in the TM that was reported in Army Motors in September 1943 and they gave the correct measurements. Hope this helps. Alan.

great! i ve seen on the forum the measurement on the TM10 was wrong but this document show the MB frames are the same measurement of the 1945 CJ2 A frame (depending year of built certainly) as show on this picture:

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for posting that Blackstone! When I repaired my MB frame last winter both my frame and the parts frame had the same measurements for the spring shackle mounts which was reversed in the TM. I assumed it was wrong as printed and this verifies it.
Where do you find Army Motors publications from WW II?

Hi ghiltgen, Not sure about posting links but if you follow type in this address it should take you there click on the name of the issue you want and not the picture and it should down load as a PDF file. http://radionerds.com/index.php/Army_Motors
Hope this helps Alan.
