Windshield Glass Stencil ID Help

Post by TwoCar » Wed Aug 16, 2017 5:22 am

Hello.

I recently purchased a 42 GPW inner windshield with glass. After I cleaned it, I found the following stencil on the lower right hand corner of the driver's pane and in the upper left hand corner of the passenger side pane.

Does anyone recognize this stencil? I can make out "safety" on the vertical left and an "M" in the middle, but having trouble with the rest.

Thank you!

HA! I agree 100%. This was a tough image to capture between the glare on the glass and lighting, plus my phone wasn't cooperating.

To me it looks like G/M/C......would GMC make glass to fit a jeep??

Saftey I0- test GMC? I also wonder if GMC made glass. I had a brake drum on my 45 GPW that had a bowtie on it. So, if Chevy made replacement parts, I wonder if GMC's glass plant made replacements for non GMC vehicles. Thanks for the clearer picture.

That's interesting. It looks like the panes could have been possibly made in a larger quantities because the driver side glass has the stencil in the lower right corner and the passenger side glass has it on the upper left corner, but it's upside down. If you rotate the passenger side glass down onto the driver side it lines up with that stencil. Kind of like a one size fits all process.
