Generator bolt
Could anybody tell me where I can buy the generator bolt indicated by the red arrow in the picture?
As far as I can tell it is Willys No. WO-6157, but I'm not sure. I tried several vendors but no one seems to have it.
Thanks, Henk.

Re: Generator bolt
I am sure some one has reproduced these bolts which attach the genny to the arm but I believe that the thread is just a 5/16" coarse so if you found a bolt and placed a steel SLEEVE on it that would work perfectly. The ones I have are about 3/8" long and fit onto the bolt before installing it on the genny. There was no NUT as the original one-piece bolt/sleeve just tightened against the shoulder of the sleeve to hold it on the genny and the threads did not protrude from the ear on the genny.
Check the manuals for the size of the bolt for confirmation on the above but it isn't anything you need to have shipped in from the USA or something that costs you some of your hard earned jeep money! As long as the sleeve has a thin enough wall thickness for the fork on the arm to fit down onto it and the SPRING can hold it in place you are good to go.

Re: Generator bolt
Thanks Chuck,
That is what I did, some time ago. Trouble is I only had soft aluminum tube in the right dimension to make a sleeve of, and it is 'hammering in'.
No big deal, of course, but that is why I was looking for an original.

Re: Generator bolt
A short piece of steel fuel line would work. In the US, tubing is measured by OD. A 3/8" diameter tube section should do. Dunno about metric sizes.

Re: Generator bolt
Alan,
Thanks for your suggestion. My local garage might have a piece of the right diameter steel fuel line for me.
Nevertheless I'll keep looking for an original bolt. Thanks again, Henk.

Re: Generator bolt
Perhaps you have the pn wrong. Are you really looking for A1468? Ron shows stock and other suppliers should have too.

Jeep Fun,
I think the bolt I am looking for is WO-6157. Ron does not have that one.

Re: Generator bolt
It seems that there is no original bolt there. I used the bolt with imperial thread and adjusted its length to the part list specification. I found one with recesed head which is not correct. I asked machine shop to make sleeve matching to the size I found here on G. All worked well. I have somewhere sizes and can post later if thread is not easily searchable.

Re: Generator bolt
Interesting thread, Mark.
I gather there are 3 versions of this bolt (with or without lock nut):
- stepped
- with a loose bushing
- with a (spot)welded bushing.
From the pictures there seem to have been several lengths/shoulder heights in use.
Anyway, I can stop looking for a shouldered bolt, as using a sleeve can be considered original.
Thanks Mark.
