Are you asking whether it is a WWII jeep engine?

Hello,

Yes, your engine is from a WW2 Willys MB Military jeep !
Towards end of production based on the number.

That should be an April 1945 block. Look for a date casting below / behind the starter. Should be 4 - XX. If you have the oil pan off you can look for the machining / assy date by the rear bearing. This is frequently a very faint stamp. Let us know what you find.

OK
So behind the starter I found 4-6 casted on the block. Inside after I pulled the oil pan I found #3 casted on the driver side and on the passenger side I think it looked like x 7.
I have no idea what this means?
Do you guys have any ideas.
While we are on this subject how many engines did willys produce during the war?
thank you guys !

I edited my post above :) I must have misread what you typed. 4 - 6 is perfect for that block (584069). I have engine # 583935 listed as being installed in a Jeep delivered on 4/12/1945.

The highest engine serial # I have in my database is 637152. That's an Aug 1945 block. I believe that they completed a few hundred more after that.

The date stamping your looking for will be on the block face that mates to the oil pan. Usually it's to the drivers side of the rear oil seal and frequently is very faint

Seth thank you so much. I'm really happy that my block was produced before the war ended.
