^ cheer up, I bought this one specifically because it split. will allow me to walk down to the diameter that I need since a true size tap still might be a bear to get started.

The Wheel Spindle Thread Chasers I have seen are 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1", 1 1/8, and 1 1/4". None are 13/16" with 20 TPI.

gentlemen, that little sucker was worth twice its price and would've sill been a bargain. ran it down 5 turns, and woila! threads perfect and nut went on great. anybody wants to use it, let me know. looks good to have the steering wheel on after 2 years

the key to this is the split, I opened it up to get around the mushroomed end, then ran it down like normal.

I Just rechecked the wheel spindle thread chasers I have, one is from our old shop started with our automobile business, the other id a NOS GI Issue out of Rock Island Arsenal in the 70's. There a split tool that clamps onto the good spindle threads and is backed off over the burred threads. Sizes on the Spindle Thread Chases are 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 1 ", 1 1/8", 1-1/4". They are an industry standard as far as spindle threads go.

Hello Folks,

I was wondering if anyone knows where I could purchase one of these dies from, is it also a UNF thread?, the ones I have found so far have been other Unified thread sizes, I am located in the U.K., I have seen a few on offer from China and Amazon etc.. but they don't specify if they are UNF. This is my next hurdle on my jeep project. Hoping soon to start a thread, no pun intended, on the restoration of my Jeep.

Hope yous can help.

Many thanks

Will

If it is listed as 13/16" X 20 TPI it is UNF. The size listing of 13/16" X 20 TPI is what is important.
