All of my Slat gauges were nice to start with but I think they turned out well. PM me for the restoration details if you're interested.

Has anybody figured out who the current go-to is for gauge restoration?
I Tried bobs last time. Everything functioned correctly but the bezels were not crimped on and I found a random nut rattling around inside one.

I love what I got back from Williamson’s Instrument in Arkansas. Warranty can’t be beat either.

I’ll use them again. I’m done shopping around till I quit or they close.

Spoke to Williamson’s. They actually glue on bezels over the old ones. Not sure I’m into this. Anybody try Hollywood or Palo Alto?

Yes, IF your bezels are bad AND you allow them to, they epoxy a clean bezel over the original. It is almost imperceptible....Image

Can you tell? That’s way closer than anyone will ever get and probably under brighter light.

Also...Williamson’s warranty covers it. If you don’t like it, send it back.

Hi Gee's

I have a nice slat speedo.
But it has it's original faceplate reprinted to match 100 km/h increments by swiss army.
They changed the bezel too.

Is there any source to get a original bezel and faceplate?

Cheers Mike

Hello Mike,
Joe's Motor Pool makes a darn good , accurate, non radioactive, Slat Grill speedometer.
I bought one, it is beautiful.
Way cheaper than a rebuild and no radiation.
They make a whole range of G503 speedometers.

They are the ONLY people who make accurate G503 speedometers.

Best Regards,
Ray

I have two original slat grill speedo's that I was going to have restored, but was interested in the JP speedo as a lesser option. I searched, and looks like they are out of stock/production everywhere. Have you or anyone else seen a recent listing for the JP slat speedo? Seems like they can make enough of those for the market...

Thanks,
Zeph

Don’t go to Williamson’s. I just had a terrible experience with them. After 1 1/2 years, .....yes 1 1/2 years. I had to pull them and send them elsewhere. When the new rebuilder opened the 2 finished gauges, he said he found bailing wire and super glue. Just horrible.

Well, that's unfortunate. I had just looked them up today and was thinking about contacting them to get an idea of cost to rebuild a speedometer.

Tempting to pull the guts from a JMP repro and use them together with the old face, pointer, bezel and housing.

I challenge the jeep police to detect that! :)

Not sure that would work. My new builder says they are totally different inside. You may have a different experience. I am going to ask my new builder if he wants to go public for his service. He’s an expert, super detail oriented, tons of Orginal and nos parts on hand to fix these things. I’ve been super happy beyond all expectations. I’ll post a pic of his work in a few days.
Sorry to bag on Williamson’s, but they really screwed me. You may want to roll the dice. I will say their artwork was good on the faces. But that’s it.
