Post by johnny43gpw » Thu Mar 12, 2009 2:13 am

Would anyone have the dimension's for the travel Arm Bracket and the location where to weld the Bracket on the m24 Step Mount ( Field Modification) ?

I believe the Bracket is 3/4" thick by 1 1/2" Long with a clearance hole for a 3/4" bolt ?

Thank's for the Help! :D

Johnny,

I think that that bracket is the standard single hole bracket.

What did you put on your M31C? if you put a single hole for the travel bar on the M31C then I think this one is the same size.

Jon's Jeep draw drawings have the dimensions.

Hi Robert,

Good to hear from you again! and thank's for the previous help with the M31c Mount !:D

Here is the Picture of the M31c Mount's I'am working on, they have the two Hole Bracket's for the Travel Arm, I got the Drawing for the M31C Mount from Jon ( A very nice Drawing from Down under by the way !).

The M24 Step Mount Picture's, that I can find , show only a single Hole Bracket, I do not have any of the dimensions for this Bracket and the Dimension's for where it is welded on to the Tube.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e263/ ... dims-1.jpg

This was a field Mod so, I guess a two hole Bracket could have been used in the Field ?

I have also seen this type of Mount in a WW2 Picture that show's this Mount to be much taller than the one I'am building, so that it places the .30 above the Winshield Frame when the Winshield is up.

I guess nesessity is the Mother of Invention in the Field!

I wish I had the rest of the Part's, ( socket, Pintle, .30 BMG, and the Travel Arm, then I could figure it out but, My wife is not budging on my purchase of these Item's yet )

Thank's for the Help !

P.S. The 3" OD Tube, 1/4" Wall Tube is Spendy Stuff! and hard to find a remenant without buying a 20' section :( The Mandrel Drawn Tube is even spendier!

Johnny,

Go visit the BMG parts website

There isn't much different. I just bought the raw stock and located and drilled the holes then, ground the shape to drawing dimensions.

Image

So I would use Jon's drawings for thickness and the top curve portion, then flip the top curve portion about the center of the hole and mark the same curve below the hole. Take it to the grinder and make it so.

Jon's drawings show the dimensions for a travel bar. Make something equivalent and use it to mark your location.

If you were closer you could use my travel bar for location.

Wow,

Look's great :!: I'am envious!

I see now that, the two Hole Bracket has the Position's for the 30 and or the 50 Cal.

I will just scale to the 30 side of the two hole M31C Drawing to make the single Hole Bracket for the Step Mount (M24 ).

The Dimension to the top of the 3" Tube, to the Center of the 3/4" Hole must be the same as it is for the M31C Mount's 30 cal Position.

Thank's for the help and sharing the Picture :!:
