Freedom Vehicles Military Outpost

Post by wadefreedomvehicles » Thu Jan 19, 2017 7:12 pm

For the 3rd consecutive year Freedom Vehicles Association in conjunction with the Colonial Heritage festival, Cries of Freedom, and sponsored in part by Provo’s Freedom Festival, will be providing the military vehicle and equipment display July 1st - 4th 2017 at SCERA Park in Orem Utah. Colonial Heritage Festival and Freedom Vehicles Associations’ combined interactive learning displays are the largest public U.S. History Education event in the United States. Visitors are able to come and participate in various events while they touch, see, smell and interact with the tools and equipment used to defend the Freedoms that we hold so dear.
Freedom Vehicles sets up a military vehicle and equipment display ranging from 1914 to present day using authentic equipment and vehicles from the time period represented. Participants will be taught about the vehicles and equipment used through interactive guided tours being taught by representatives of Freedom Vehicles.
Some of the activities at the event are as follows:

-Boot Camp: Participants will be able to Learn how to march in formation, toss a grenade, lay land mines, and “shoot” with prop wooden guns. They will then be able to use these skills to participate in a staged skirmish on a battlefield.

-Machine Gun: Graduates of Boot camp will be able to shoot a Simulated .50 Cal Machine Gun (This is a safe activity with constant supervision)
-
Pictures: Additionally graduates will be able to get family and graduation class pictures.

-Dog Tags: Veterans, Boot Camp Graduates, and participants will be taught about the importance of Dog Tags and be able to receive their own custom made Dog Tag made on a WWII Dog Tag Machine.

-Air Cannon: Book camp cadets will be able to shoot an Air Cannon: Participants will be able to shoot candy and t-shirts out of an air cannon that resembles a WWII Artillery Cannon.

-Equipment Tours: The tours will be for all visitors and will consist of learning about all the vehicles displayed, all field equipment and gear, and weapons. These tours will be in varying stages depending on how in depth the visitor wish to learn. Tours will be guided and taught by well-educated representatives and members of Freedom Vehicles Association.

When participants enter the Freedom Vehicles Camp we hope they will experience a look and feel similar to that of a real camp of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. This will be made possible through the use of equipment, vehicles, tents, camo net, and much more.
The schedule of events will be as follows for the days of display:

Saturday July 1st: All events will be open to the public; a live reenactment by the Utah Military Historic Group will happen (Time TBD).
Sunday July 2nd: All activities will be closed; displays will be available for public to walk through.
Monday July 3rd: All events will be open to the public; a live reenactment by the Utah Military Historic Group will happen (Time TBD).
Tuesday July 4th: Last day of display, all events open, event will close at 12:00 to allow volunteers, and equipment owners to spend time with family and friends that evening.

ANY AND ALL MILITARY VEHICLE OWNERS, AND MILITARY EQUIPMENT COLLECTORS ARE INVITED TO BRING AND DISPLAY THEIR VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT. IF INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT ME.

Freedom Vehicles is currently planning activities for the 2017 Freedom Vehicles Military Outpost and we are looking for public opinion on some of our activities.
We are debating between putting on two different activities among the other many activities that have been at our event in the past and still will be. The two activities in question are an Onsite Vehicle Restoration, or Boot Camp.
An onsite Vehicle Restoration would be an activity for patrons to view while it happens. Over the course of the 4 days in the park we would completely restore a vehicle, at the moment we are are thinking of doing a 1944 M2A1 Half Track. Full restoration would be get it to a running state, paint, and assemble. By the end of the restoration, it would be derivable and we would take it through the Fourth of July Parade at Provo with Provos Freedom Festival, a sponsor of our event. All work that is not capable of being done in the park would be pre-done at our restoration facilities.

Boot Camp would be a very interactive and educational opportunity for all. you would be able to enter boot camp and learn how to throw grenade, shoot a gun, march in formation, get dog tags, and by the end of it participants would put on a skirmish in our battlefield.

Both activities are great activities, and we are having a difficult time deciding which activity to do.
A huge deciding factor is how many volunteers we can get. If we do not get enough volunteers to help, then activities will not be run as efficiently, and at as great of an experience as what they could be. Anyone can volunteer. Volunteers sign up for a time that is available to them and they are able to come and in a way participate in the activity, as well as help educate other patrons.
Volunteers receive free dog tags, a T-shirt, a ride in a vehicle of their choice owned by the association, and a free simulated machine gun shoot.

Please give your input and help us to make the 2017 Freedom Vehicles Military Outpost a great one like the ones in previous years.
