I MISS WEARE NH

Post by Joe Gopan » Thu Jul 25, 2013 7:17 pm

Weare can be good for what ails you. Everything from Cushman airborne to M-88. Nice crowds in the old days with veteran collectors Ross Moir (Cyclops Ram), Paul Baillargeon, Pat Whitehouse, George Mainieri, Joe Grimes, Bob Sroczenski (cleanest M-38 in the world), Steve Keith aka Dr Deuce, Nate Schwartz, Bob Ketler, Charlie Adams, Bob Adams, Fred Potter Joe Hall, Manny Rogers w/sidekick George Simione, Ted Bromage, Albert Pike, Ralph Woerz, Jon Vetter, George Hilton, David Wright, George DeBonis, Bob O'Brian, Howie Bearse, Nelson Dionne, Mark O'Malley, Ron Nash, Larry Damour and a few others I may have forgotten, some are now deceased, some jailed and some who have just faded away from the hobby. Weare was fun, it is still a good show with many new faces. Lots of excitement with trail rides, good food, good vendors, and equipment demonstrations, you have not lived until you have seen Dr. Deuce attempt to grade mud with his Clark Airborne Dozer.

WEARE, ya gotta do it at least once. There's some nice vehicles, Bob Srozenski has a nice M-38 and M-37, they are drivers but are kept in like new condition, and are excellent examples of how GI type maintenance pats off. Steve Keith has a collection of CCKW's that are related to the Energizer Bunny. Steve Workman has a nice CCKW with a Wood Cargo Body that he reconstructed with all new wood, Joe Hall and Jon Cliché always have amazing MV's to drool over. Paul Baillargeon has some fantastic APC's with hardware that only Paul can find. The event is never short of vendors.

By Friday dealers are already set up or are setting up. Most members that are camping have already been there for a few days. Not open to the public realy but there is trading, selling and socializing among those who are there. Saturday is much busier as it is open to everyone. Lots of things going on like trail rides. Several tailgate venders show up early in the morning.

Ken, Hopefully I will get to see you run it. Somehow I missed at the Rhinebeck show.
