Went to the huge militaria show at Ciney in Belgium today. After 2 hours my wife refused to go any further and called her divorce lawyer. Only saw about 1/3 of all the stands and will have to go alone to the next one.
On the way out the door I finally grabbed an affordable solid, no holes German can. Still has all its tan paint under 1 red, 1 silver and 1 orange layer.
Anyone know how to get rid of the other layers without damaging the original?

Re: Kanister round 3
Thanks Adam,
The guy I bought it from had 5 or 6 including a very nice tan painted SS can but he wanted 200€ for that one.
There were hundreds of Gerry cans for sale there with very good British cans going for 5-10 €, US and German cans slightly more. If you every plan a visit to Europe to find cans, this show had more than I had ever seen in one place and relatively good deals. They run this show every 6 months.

Hi
"RP" meant "Reich Post" till 1943 it was "RP OST"
The "RP" cans are very rare cans. I have only seen pictures but never handled and actual can.
Very nice can indeed.
Regards

It's a 1943 can.Chuck Lutz wrote:Patrick....what is the date on that can?

I was able blast some of the orange paint off with just a spray hose of water.
Might try something more aggressive to get down to the tan.........
Will have to wait till next weekend though as I am marching with the Canadian Military delegation this weekend in Knokke-Heist to commemorate the battle of the Scheldt. 33 km hike and about 10 stops at cemeteries and memorials.
