Up through 1953, SIG 5 describes TM-183 as having 14 terminals and being 5-1/2" x 1-3/4" by 3/8". The 1955 SIG 5 describes is as being 5-1/2" x 2-13/32" x 7/8" and having studs and solder terminals. Neither entry specifically says that the 14 are in two rows of 7 but they must be. Earlier entries do not give terminal thread size nor whether studs or tapped holes. In any case, I don't think any of the photos show TM-183

Brian,
I recently bought a TM-188 terminal box with the TM-183 in it...I'll send you pics.

I thought I had cracked the code when I ran across this on armyradio.com...but now I'm thoroughly confused:

TM-188 (TM-183) SCR-193 wiring diagram.gif
TM-188 (TM-183) SCR-193 wiring diagram.gif (23.68 KiB) Viewed 769 times

The installation diagram for the SCR-193 specifically mentions the TM-188 and TM-183, but I don't see the positive and negative terminals in the boxes that Thierry and I have. Looks like I need a larger box that has the (+) and (-) terminals as depicted above?

Yah, i think you need the big carryall/command car box with the separate high voltage block. i see on the halftrack forum they used them there also, but had 6 lid screws.

I concur with #8 studs. I scaled Thierry's top view photo of the TM-183 and come up with 11/32" across the flats of the self locking nuts. If the studs were #10, the nuts would be 3/8" hex.

so now that iv finally seen one, those seem to be heavily associated with the SCR-245, and early M2, M3 armor. dont think Iv ever seen that mounting hole pattern on anything else.

Also used with some of the SCR-193 models. And must have been used elsewhere as they were still in the inventory as late as 1955. However, I don't know any applications other than SCR-193, 210 and 245.
