MT- mounts

Post by brian in denver » Tue Sep 12, 2017 11:01 am

guess the reason I never did mounts is cuz most of them are just airforce do-daads

interesting that the VRC-12 gets a 1000 series mount

MT designations date all the way back to 1943 with AN/ARC-1, AN/VRC-1, and other WW-II sets.

AN/VRC-12 is an anomaly. The nomenclature was assigned right after AN/VRC-8/9/10, probably in 1948 or 1949. But work doesn't appear to have actually started on it until a decade later. System nomenclature was assigned when approval was received. But basic component nomenclature wasn't assigned until after some hardware was built, maybe as late as start of production. TM 11-487A, 1950 and 1959 editions. do not even list AN/VRC-12. So all of the components of what became the AN/VRC-12 family of sets have what seem like unusually high nomenclature numbers. The other sets in the series begin with AN/VRC-43,

If you mean TM 11-227, it covers almost nothing from the AN system except a few navigation sets. TM 11-487 doesn't cover anything aircraft or Navy. AN/ARR-1 was both Navy, and aircraft.
