SOLD - NO MORE - WW II Immersion Heaters for Sale at Aberdeen and MVPA Conv

Post by M38A1 MP Jeep » Wed May 02, 2007 9:39 am

THESE ARE ALL SOLD. NO MORE AVAILABLE.

I have World War II Immersion Heaters that I am seeking to sell at the National MVPA Convention

So far the ones have seen are dated 1944 and 1945, but I have not been through all of them yet. These are still in the shipping crate. Dry stored in a pole barn. Not rusted through, but do have surface rust from exposure to humidity - from what I have been told, the bottom portion was never painted at the factory. Gas Tanks painted nice OD green. Control box with instructions. Lots of cosmoline on some of them.

Comes with the rod and clawfoot used in the burner section as well as the fuel tank, banding clamp and the drip valve.

These appear to be new old stock

I understand that the typical CCKW Mess Truck had three of these heaters.

Seeking $100 each and will also consider trading for M38 or M38A1 parts.

I can ship by FEDEX, they weigh approximately 70-75 lbs each.

Is anyone interested in one - please let me know, I am not bringing them this year unless their is interest in advance?

I am seeking information on M38A1's configured for MP use from 1953-?.

I am also interested in equipment and uniforms worn and carried by MP's during this timeframe.

Just got a couple of questions. Since I know very little about these, from what you listed are they complete or do you have to buy anything else in order to get them working? Second, do you have any price estimate on shipping? If so, what would be a good estimate on shipping to California? Third, would this pattern of immersion heater be correct for the entire war or just late war? Just let me know, I may be interested in purchasing one from you. Also, just out of curiosity, how many heaters are you selling?

I have seen two world war II styles. Both bodies are completely the same. One has a metal cover that is angled, with a porcelained plate attached to it. They are 1943 and 1944 dated. The ones shown here have the square flat porcelained covers with the writing on them and are dated 1944 and 1945.

All are complete minus the technical manual, but you may have to replace the 4" stove pipe. Otherwise they are mechanically complete and solide.

I have packed these for a show I am going to, but I can get additional pictures and a cost estimate for you next week.

I have access to another 15-20

Can you set at least one aside for me? If the shipping is reasonable I would like to buy one from you, preferably a 44 dated one if possible. I will pm you with my shipping info so you can give me a quote.

Are these the ones used to heat the tentsor part of the field kitchen?
What's the shipping to Belgium?
I have M38 A1 radiator, steering house, starter and generators for trade.

heaters

These heating units are made to clamp on the inside wall of a 25 gallon trash can and were commonly used to sterlize (dip) mess gear and wash pots & pans in the field.

Period picture of them in use.

I would like a nice 1944 one. At Aberdeen you indicated that you might be coming to New England. Does that still stand.

I found the TM 10-702 Immersion Heaters dated dated 1952 that shows the operation, parts list, etc for the World War II and post war heaters. A copy will be sent with each heater.

I am still seeking an original good copy of the 1944 copy.

do you have any left??

You indicate you're in the "midwest". can you be more specific. If I could arrange a pickup (since I'm in eastern Nebraska, Iowa, eastern South Dakota), I might be interested in a couple of them.

Let me know..

I don't have any on-hand at the moment, but I hope to be picking up more in a week or two.

I am in Kentucky and I can ship these. I just sent 3 to MS for approximately $50 each, and that included the wooden frame it is in. If the framing is of no concern to you and you want one without, shipping will be less.

I will put you on the list and let you know when I have more available. I will also post here..

Thanks.
