Bump. I've found some uniform items. It would be nice to find some other stuff, like souvenir items.

Also, still looking for some veterans. Come on guys!

Gents:

I am researching the same topic. Noticed this conversation was a bit dated and wanted to see where everyone was at, at the moment. Thank you.

Just taking a moment to remember T/Sgt Joseph (NMI) Gopan, US ARMY Ranger. The January cold snap always reminds me.
Did I ever make a copy of his 2nd Army Ranger School Diploma for Lt. Luke?

For some reason Joseph Gopan's last name is blocked in the first sentence. Just the letters "he" is allowed. What gives?

How come Joseph Gopan's last name is blocked in the previous post?

Some bad blood between the site owner and another Jeep vendor if I remember correctly. That vendors name is on the blocked list.

Thanks for the reminder Ben. No, I never received a copy of the handbook.

Dad's story was he was drafted during WWII and sent to Aberdeen, MD after basic at Camp Custer in MI. He was traine to be small arms repair, an artificer as he called it. Assigned to a National Guard unit in OH and while preparing to be shipped overseas was called into the CO's office and told he was not shipping out with his unit as he was not a US citizen. Dad said he had been telling the Army that for six months. Seems you could be drafted, but not served overseas in uniform unless you were a citizen.
He was reassigned to the 2nd Army and spent his duration inspecting units that were being sent overseas to insure that all their training and equiptment was current. Mustered out as a Staff Sargent. We have marked the rear bumperetts of my 42 GPW for his service in the 2nd Army. He could not tell us a division or company name or number, so we just stenciled it HQ.

Sorry, no militaria from his service. His records were some of those destroyed in the St. Louis fire and it was quite a struggle to get him VA benefits towards the end of his life.
He died Jan. 19, 2017 at the age of 94.

Sorry to ramble, just a 2nd Army story that I wanted to share after I saw your thread title.
