Opinions on value of WWII field kitchen items

Post by tranham » Sat Dec 24, 2016 2:02 pm

Thinking of selling my us WWII and post war kitchen stuff. I've taken a bunch of pics. As it's been a while since I purchased it all I'm not sure on value. If someone wants to take a shot at it, please do. Either for the entire lot or some of the more pricey stuff. I'm not ready to sell just yet.

Thanks

There is some good stuff there! it probably took a good amount of time to dredge up that stuff.

I am interested in all of it, but can't afford any of it right now...I like the M1937. Where are the items located to estimate shipping?

Nice! That is what I call a nice set of field gear!

Do you cook with it or display only?

I'm near Nashville TN. I did some cooking but not a lot. My issue is going to a reenactment or a display I've got to haul my tents and vehicles. The cook gear is usual too much unless I double trip it. Ideally I'd like to sell as a lot.

I understand your desire to sell it off to one person as it is easier. It's clean and done. If your more interested in your time than profit off the sale, that is the best option. Difficulty is that trying to find the "one" guy interested or wanting all of it for a set price will be difficulty. Most guys who have kitchen set ups may not need or want all of the items. I sold off all my demo stuff to a buddy of mine. It was very easy- no having to take pictures, find individual pricing, etc. The problem was that I sold it off at much less than it was worth if parceled out individually. You will make more money selling it piecemeal than as a whole. There are items I would be willing to buy from you individually. Having been collecting field mess gear/equipment for 10 years now, I know the time and effort you put into collecting this. Unless it's your primary passion/obsession, the bulk of carting it out for display and events is beyond a hassle. I'd love to buy it all but my wife would go ape if I bought another 37 range stove! It would have to be a first model range to get approval.

In regards to early Messing equipment, has anybody ran across an "Alamo range" no.1 or no.2? I wonder what that would be worth.

The kind that sits on the ground and is like an over grown Small Detachment Stove.

I have seen them in TM pictures and 1 or 2 images online, but never in person. Those would be an Outstanding addition to have.
