Seeking Bren Mark II parts

Post by Andy Cole » Tue Sep 05, 2017 11:39 am

I am looking parts for a semi Bren Mark II build.
I have a barrel, a torch cut receiver, and complete lower (trigger, grip, butt stock, recoil etc) and that is it. No pins, springs, barrel nut, bipod, mag, etc...nothing other that the barre,l cut upper, and complete lower. I am needing tons of parts.

sooooo.....I am looking economy internal an other external parts, great and small.

I am slowly rebounding from an expensive summer. AC issues both at my home and my aging parents (they don't give those units away!) I am a school teacher and getting back into the swing of another school year.

I am in no great hurry, and cannot dump a pile of money at one time. However, I would like to "nickel and dime" my way to enough parts to make a working semi Bren.

I would even be happy with very rough parts. I am not above machining, repairing, refinishing, etc. I pride myself on being good with a file.

By chance do any of you have parts and pieces laying around that would fit a Bren Mark II that you'd be willing to part with?
I'm patient. I may end up hunting parts for years, but I gotta start somewhere. Bout as well be here.

Kev Groom in the UK will have every part you need and his pricing is pretty darn good. He has everything except for pressure baring parts which were not allowed to own in the UK. There are lots of things to consider first, do you want to keep it .303, or modify for .308/7.62, etc. etc. Do you want to make it to original spec or is a mixture of Marks and manufacturers acceptable?

Can you tell me the serial number and manufacturer? Being a MkII it will be a Inglis or Daimler/Monotype product, if it's marked Mk2 its a late Monotype product.
Ford GPW 6008, in slow process of restoration.

FWIW: Besides the usual haunts (Sarco, Numrich) you might call upon Apex and SMG. If memory serves, isn't there a shop in the Carolinas that does primarily Brit stuff? The name escapes me...

This one is Inglis 1943. Sadly those marks are right beside a torch cut. Actually the 3 was mostly scorched off. No doubt those markings will be lost in the welding and grinding process.

Likewise the serial number was lost in the torching process. Unless I'm looking in the wrong spot. Isn't the serial number over the pin at the back of the receiver? If so, the torch cut runs right through where it was.
