That is a commercial pistol. Note the slide markings M45A1 and not the military model "USMC". You have to pay close attention or you will get taken.

For a gun that was so hard to come by there seems to be more then enough for anyone who wants one

It is always the same way whenever a surplus gun is released. Then in a couple of years, when I generally decide to want one, they are impossible to find unless I pay an arm and a leg.

The latest tally is 470 used pistols and 530 NIB pistols for a total of 1,000 released for sale. And 52 pistols of that total were TOT Colt for employee purchase.

To much for a used pistol that was returned for defective finnish but to each their own.

Local dealer says he can order the same pistol from Colt new but less the USMC marking.

People will buy into the Hype and continue to drink the Colt cool aid.

If the CMP ever does release the 45's for sale Im guessing the same will happen. The big boys will buy them up by the trailer full and run the price up and dictate the market as they dont want the prices they ask for the ones they cant sell to drop.

Not sure I follow you?

From CMP...

Q?
HOW MANY M1 RIFLES MAY I PURCHASE PER YEAR?

A.
Purchase of M1 Garand rifles is limited to eight (8) per customer per calendar year - regardless of grades purchased. Any serial numbered item concerning M1 Garands counts towards your 8 M1 Garand limit per calendar year.

The CMP occasionally also conducts other special sales programs as assets become available. These special sales and purchases through the CMP auction site do not count against the above.

Q?
WILL .45S BE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE CMP?

A.
The CMP is NOT authorized to receive or disburse the 1911s at this point. There "maybe" an opportunity in the future. The CMP will need to receive the approval required from the Secretary of the Army by the legislation.

Oh, how much did the local dealer quote you on the .45? I see my LGS has the USMC .45 for $1,739.95.

Thank you. It was a rare opportunity to take advantage of. It won't likely happen again.

I finally received my NIB pistol and it is a beauty. I also obtained the unit identifications for my two issued and used pistols. Both were issued to 2nd Marine Raider Support Battalions based in Camp Lejeune.

I have a brand new blue box one. USMC rollmark that’s not crossed out. Less than 2,000 of them in civilian hands. The only ones I see for sale now are the decommissioned ones with the USMC crossed out.

They are all collectible now and will only appreciate with time. The commercial Colt model like yours with their many variants and the military models both issued and unissued
