WTS WWII M-10 1944 Ammo Trailer W/Shrapnel Damage SOLD

Post by mkoloc » Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:12 pm

Last ammo trailer from my collection. Opportunity to own a piece of history at a very fair price!
Selling as is. Includes original combat wheels. I will add a fuse box, lunnete and landing leg wheel as they are missing. $800.00 firm ... combat wheels and fuse box are worth that alone. Will include an extra set of hubs and brake handles and mud scraper as the originals on the trailer have been damaged. Transportation is buyers responsibility or I can arrange.

For more pics or info, please contact me via my email at: mkoloc44@yahoo.com
or via my cell # in my signature box.

Much Thanks
Mark

FF, recovered in this condition not sure of history regards damage as it was deep in the woods in GA, and had been sitting there for decades. I believe that this trailer along with several others that were being scrapped out in the woods may have been some of the equipment brought back from Europe to be used for the failed Cuba Invasion. By the 60s, a lot of our stuff in Europe had been scrapped out and it seems that stuff was being grabbed back from other countries by a three letter agency in support of that mission. As you may know, every surplus HT (hundreds of them) in the US and most of the supporting items like Ammo and Ben Hur trailers, spare parts etc were purchased by the Israeli military in the late forties and shipped out of the US.

There is still one operational French HT (M16) at Ft. Benning, GA from that bunch of equipment that is currently in the possession of the ENG Brigade on post. I had an opportunity to instruct the Motorpool mechs on the carb as they had no idea how to get it set-up to run properly (2011 while stationed there) as mechs today are trained in fuel injected engines (and they had no manuals) and none of those kids had ever worked on a carb.

There are also two additional French M16 HT's (brought back from Europe) sitting in the open air museum at Camp Blanding, FL (melting away in the salt air  ) more left-over equip from the failed invasion as again volunteers for that disaster were also trained there for the invasion.

Museum curator there told me during a visit to the post to do research in 2010, that a significant # of pieces of equipment, cases of weapons, munitions etc. were buried in the swamp and sands of the post after that disaster as the Washington bunch wanted to physically and figuratively bury the entire mess. He was uncertain as to the reason that these two tracks were spared destruction. They currently belong to TACOM.

All I know or care to assume at this point :) . Would just like to find a good home for this old trailer as I already have one that I'm keeping for my HT.

Bump: It would be a shame to have to scrap this old beast out ... but I do need the room in the shop for other projects! Will give this another couple of weeks before I strip her out and pull the trigger on the scrap man. $800 / OBO.
