Box Cover For WWII Water Trailer Faucets

Post by Dave A. » Fri Feb 23, 2018 1:18 am

A while ago, I found a 1944 water trailer that has the accessories including the faucets and the box cover that covers the faucets. However, there was only one box cover, not two. So, I took the cover to a welding shop with the intent of getting one made when they asked me if buying a few of them will be cheaper.

So, is there anyone looking for the box cover as shown as "A" in the picture? I don't know how much but will let you know as soon as I find out. Also, keep in mind that this is the cover that lifts up but not the bottom piece that holds the faucets. Let me know.

Thank you.

Interested. I need two of them... could really use the whole box, rather than just the covers.

Good Afternoon Dave:

Ditto -- I could use two of them as well. It appears to be one of the more common missing pieces.

Thanks,

Regards,

Walter

So, we now have an interest of seven of them; two for Retro-Roco, two for Farrell, two for Walter, and one for me. The owner of the welding shop had a death in the family so I'll know the cost as soon as he is back in the shop. Once known, I'll post a picture of the original box cover and the cost of each one, Sure hope it turns out to be reasonable.

Please note, I do have the "bottom" of the box, the one with the faucets. Let's figure out the cost of the box cover and for those who are interested, I can take measurements and see what the cost of the bottom will be.

Also, please note, I do not have the three hinges. Does anyone know what these hinges look like and how to get them?

Okay,,,finally got the price for the box cover.

For one box cover to look just like the one in the photos will cost just $565.90. What???

But wait. If I order seven of them, they will cost $155 each. Whew, that sounds a lot better.

So, take a look at the photos and let me know if you would like two of them. I will get one and the other six are waiting for confirmation from Retro Roco, Farrell, and Walter.

I'm still game for two. It looks great! I notice there are screw holes already for the hinges. I wonder if these would work... https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Hardware ... ing+hinges

Hi Dave,

I thought I received a message from you about these, and the national convention. If tht sounds familiar, could you please re-send. I can not find the message for nothing.... Thanks!
