Leaky front axle

Post by Scroungerm5 » Tue Nov 07, 2017 10:58 am

I recently picked up a very nice open cab CCKW out of Oregon ( thanks Steve) but need to fix the leaking front axle. Who might be selling the seals and gaskets I need? Thanks for the help. Lee in Livermore CA

Hello Scroungerm5,

What axle type does your truck have? Banjo or Split?

Also, where on the axle is the leak at ?

Best Regards...

It is the banjo type, leaking out the backside. I found a parts conversion chart that shows Napa may still have the seals. Thanks for the help

leaking out the backside
Just curious...

Do you mean leaking out of the back of the axle - as in at the pinion ? (A relatively easy repair.)

Or backside as in at the inside of the brake backing plate at the end on the axle tube(s) ? (Much more involved.)

Best Regards...
