ATTN Ward La France M1A1 series 5 OWNERS!

Post by pierino » Mon Oct 02, 2017 8:00 am

g'day, gentlemen,

I have two friends here, each one restoring a wrecker... they are 1944 trucks...

I would be SO happy to receive pictures of your ORIGINAL data plates and USA numbers (if original): we have here the trucks' frame numbers, and we can sort some kind of USA NUMBERS, but we have no idea about the delivery dates (other than them being 54xxxx, and thus 1944 models (5).

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Thank you, but i think I have them. They were on a SNL ORD 9 manual and on an after-war government publication. They were also printed badly on the manual.... 8)

They were also on Wheels&Tracks #3 and on a Tankograd publication.

Problem is that there are some confusion on those s/n'è if you closely look at them...

And the ONLY way is to look at original data plates...

Thank you!

What is this "after war government publication "?
You got all the number from 1943 to 1945 ?

How a WLF M1A1 chassis number is composed ?

For CCKW 353 is for example CCKW353 127203 A2
For Diamond T 969A it's 969A2660

Whats the form for a WLF chassis number ?

I meant the Ordnance Departmemt Administrative and Tactical Vehicles list, for years '40-'44...

chassis' numbers are 6 "W" then 6 digits - beginning with series 5, first digit is the model, second digit is the year

thus, you don't have any WLF original data plate, correct?

I got the Ordnance Departmemt Administrative and Tactical Vehicles list, for years '40-'1945
The 1944 one is uncomplete and contain somemistakes...Some contract for WLF are missing in the 1944 one ... But i can give you a correct list with CORRECT contract no et and correct Reg number from Series 1 to Series 5 ...But it's as you want
Don't referring always to the 1st january 1944,most of the 1943/1944 contract in this register are only "plan" and do not reflect reality
Edition of 1st october 1945 is better

You can send me a pic of a ward la france data plates

So chassis numbers for 1944 Series 5number 2067 is "WWWWWW542067" ?

yes, if you have a newer edition, that would be appreciated... with the datas I have it's almost impossible to assess an USA # starting from serial number only...

mmhhmm... no, it was intended to be a "dot" after the "6" in my sentence:
chassis' numbers are 6 [DOT] "W" then 6 digits - beginning with series 5, first digit is the model, second digit is the year
like: "W 542067"... 8)

ok. thanks...

but I guess I still have a problem.

my question was: HOW to put an USA # beside a serial number... 'cause I only have a serial number (when you have a truck...).

on ORD 9 SNL G-116 I had partial matching between those two series of datas. on my edition of Ordnance Departmemt Administrative and Tactical Vehicles list, for years '40-'44, still I have uncorrect informations...

on your file, I might probably have correct details about contracts and USA numbers,... but I don't see any reference to serial numbers... thus, how to solve my initial problem??

...I will probably need what I firstly required: pictures of original data plates! 8)

At the time it's impossible to determine a USA REG NO by the chassis number, because there is no logical numerical sequence following.. We don't know how the USA REG NUM was applied on WLF M1A1 at the factory exit.. On the assembly line,on a park after assembly.. We don't know

I just have range of chassis number corresponding to usa reg no

I can determine in which range of usa reg no was a chassis number

But i don't have full data

For some of the last contract data are missing and i'm open to get these info

546911 is the lastest WLF M1A1 Series 5 chassis number i've (first m1a1 contract)
