Bumperettes and hook/hitch for US6
I have an assumption that bumperettes and hook/hitch used on US6s may be used on another trucks e.g. GMC, Dodge - anyone has more knowledge/experience to recommend the specific truck model in case if I need these few things on US6?

Re: Bumperettes and hook/hitch for US6
The pintle hook is a standard item and is identical to that used on the G506 Chev 1-1/2 ton, G508 GMC 2-1/2 ton, White M3A1 Scout Car and a number of other vehicles. This includes the mounting collars and spring. However the cross members and bracing are peculiar to the US6.
The only bumperettes I am aware of that look like those on the US6 are those on the G506 Chev 1-1/2 ton. Unlike the ones used on the CCKW which extend below the chassis line the G506 and US6 bumperettes are level with the lower edge. I have never had a G506 bumperette to compare the mounting holes so cannot comment on interchangeability.
Strangely enough I have just broken up and used for another purpose the rear cross member and pintle hook mounting from a US6 that has been out in the yard under a tree for over 20 years.

does anyone know if the dodge weapons carrier or other dodges bumperette , (which also has elongated rear section i.e. drops lower than the rest of the bumperette in the rear), will fit on a cckw.

Studerbaker US6 Bumperettes:
Bolt hole spacings are 1 3/4" x 4 1/2"
Hope this helps.

Sam,
Thanks so much for those measurements! Finally I know for sure what I have here. I have had a pair of bumperettes on the place for years I thought were for a Chevy but were just not right! Mystery solved!
Heck, now I own a Studebaker! (still missing ALL of the other parts north of these two pieces, but hey it's a start ! )

Jim,
Used parts are moderately common in Australia, I'm putting together a truck just because I can. It'll take 10 years, but cheap stuff comes up occasionally.
Very different in USA, I understand.

Re: Bumperettes and hook/hitch for US6
Sam,
I really like the Studers and actually have a couple of Cargo beds (one VERY nice - original wood in the floor) for the GMC or Studebaker trucks. There is a nice US6X6 with a grain bed about 8 miles from me a farmer operates on his farm and he's about to retire .
Another bumperette question for you-- are the bumperettes on our M1A1 Heavy Wreckers unique to the Ward/ KW or is there another type truck that has the same? Mine are missing-cut off actually--on the Ward. Looking for replacements.
Thanks again.
Jim

Re: Bumperettes and hook/hitch for US6
Hi Jim,
Despite having a useable unrestored M1A1, a rolling wreck and another chassis on rear axles, I don't have any bumperettes to check for you. Sorry.
I do have a set on their way to me, . . . . eventually. But not yet.
Sam.
